ALISO NIGUEL HIGH SCHOOL PHYSICAL EDUCATION PROGRAM

CLASS: POWER WALKING                                     INSTRUCTOR: MR. JEUNG

Location: Outside Facilities, Extended Trails beyond school grounds

 

The goal of this P.E. course is to help the student establish life-long healthy fitness and nutritional habits/goals through proper exercise and nutritional planning.  This class is an intense physical education class focusing on the components of total fitness:  Muscle Strength, Muscle Endurance, Flexibility, and Body Composition.

Muscle Strength: high/low repetition calisthenics (body weight exercises), high/low repetition free-weights and tube resistance

Muscle Endurance: POWER WALKING, timed runs

Flexibility:  variety of safe stretches, joint flexibility exercises, full-range exercises

Body Composition: body fat loss, lean muscle increase, weekly nutritional advice and planning Body fat percentage testing: there will be confidential electrical impedance body fat testing and weight recording during the semester. 

COURSE MATERIALS:

            Standard P.E. dress

            Quality running/workout shoes (inappropriate shoes will be considered a non-suit)

            Small water bottle

           

CLASS PARTICIPATION:

Participation points will be issued each class period.

 

The school tardy policy will be enforced.  Students not returning for second roll at the end of class will be issued a detention after school.

 

Everyone must dress out every day. All people with excused notes must also dress-out or will receive a non-suit for the day.  Students not suited -up and/or not participating will be issued a zero grade for the day.

 

All excused non-participation (with doctor note) and excused absences must be made up within two weeks during tutorial (6 laps around the stadium track. )  One tutorial make-up for a Monday schedule, two tutorial make-ups for a block schedule.

 

CLASS TIME:

You may have a small water bottle to drink from during class.

 

Use the restroom before class time.  Some extended trails beyond the school grounds do not have restrooms.
